The Countdown Begins!

The Countdown Begins!

Happy October to everyone! That may not be a thing, but still. I love October. Autumn is my favorite season, and October perfectly encompasses the feel! It’s the perfect weather for jeans and a t-shirt, then just add a sweatshirt for the evening! Comfy clothes, which is wonderful.

Plus, now in only 30 days, we have Halloween!! Who doesn’t love Halloween? (Don’t answer that-I can love it enough for all of us) πŸ™‚ It’s so much fun getting dressed up in costumes and wearing someone else for a night! That was creepily worded on purpose; Halloween is supposed to be creepy. πŸ˜‰

Let’s not forget all the fun events leading up to Halloween, or just the fun Autumn things to do! The leaves are beginning to fall and that means raking them and jumping into the piles! Plus the smell of burning leaves, yum. I personally love that smell. There are haunted houses to go to and get spooked, scary movies to watch all month, and bonfires to have! We didn’t do a lot of fires this summer, so I’m really hoping we’ll be able to do a lot this month. The weather’s cooler which will make them more enjoyable anyway! Plus since we live out in the wilderness surrounded by trees and wildlife; it will up the creepy factor and get us in the Halloween/October spirit!

Apple cider! Another thing that is way more enjoyable during Fall. I don’t know how that works, but it most definitely tastes better somehow. Carving pumpkins?! That is not just for kids! I have been carving pumpkins since I was little, and I still find it as one of my favorite activities. I finally talked Lucas into doing it with me last year, and he had as much fun as I did! Probably more since he’s more artistic than I am. πŸ™‚ After carving, you can cook all the pumpkin seeds! What’s not to love?

This month I’m going to make more posts about fall and the activities therein. I’ll also try to find some old pictures of my brother and I having pumpkin-gut fights. (I’ll fill you in more on another post!) What’s your favorite fall activity, or October activity?

      1. Me neither! Yes, I actually just watched the final episode today. I’m not sure how I feel about FearTWD; it is really interesting to get a different view of the outbreak, but a lot of the characters are a little annoying to me. It will be interesting to see how they continue to get on in the coming season though, so I am excited for it to pick back up! What are your thoughts?

      2. I agree with you about FTWD. I think it’s annoying because we already have all the knowledge about the ‘walkers’, so it’s frustrating to the naivety. Although I am enjoying the character progression. There is a lot of room for intense character makeovers, we’ll have to wait and see! πŸ™‚

  1. Love fall! Favorite time of the year! It’s like a kickoff to the happy holiday season!! One Halloween I want to make a paper mache graveyard with lots of zombies… I might have to make that a goal for next year as I’ve been saying that for about 5 years now, and I think my child is old enough to have a graveyard for a front yard, hehe!

    1. Exactly!! That sounds super fun, creepy, and absolutely amazing!! I love that idea; you should definitely make it a goal for next year. Gosh, I want to do that too now! Maybe we’ll both have to plan for graveyards with zombies for our front yard next year.. πŸ™‚

  2. My favourite October activity is an Australian concert series called A Day On The Green – which, incidentally, falls on Halloween this year! I am heading to the Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia concert – travelling over and back by coach…. six star platinum class touring coach at that! Friends of mine always do a trip to that – I went last year and had a ball! So much so, I am going back to do it all over again

    1. Wow that sounds like so much fun!! And how exciting it actually falls on Halloween this year! And the coach sounds like a blast to travel on. I can’t wait to hear how it goes! πŸ˜€

  3. Here in New Zealand we’re just coming into spring. But I share your love of autumn – it’s my favourite season. What I like doing is heading to the South Island (where they have a proper autumn, with lots of deciduous trees), and going for walks to admire the changing foliage. And I love the cool clear nights and sunny days!
