Happy Halloween/All Hallows Eve!

It’s been a long while, friends! How are all of you doing? Enjoying the weather? It’s 80° here today! I remember when there was snow on the ground when I went trick-or-treating as a kid.

I’m going to ramble for awhile; hope you don’t mind. I now am on 200mg of Lamictal, and 50mg of Zoloft, and let me tell you: IT IS AMAZING. I think (knock on wood) this is the magic amount and type of drugs for me! I was telling Lucas the other day it’s probably how ‘normal’ people feel all the time, but for me I feel like I’m on drugs because I’m so happy and actually myself! It’s wonderful. (Granted yes, I am on drugs, but I mean like non-prescription drugs. You get it.)

I’m still at the vet clinic; it’s just me and The Groomer now, so I’ve been doing prep work, all the bathing, and then helping to finish whatever dogs are left. So a few less dogs that I’m finishing, but I’m still really enjoying it, learning new things, and getting more hours which is great!

Lucas and I are doing very well as are all the animals! Lunar Tides is going great and we’ve had a few live shows in our area!! That’s been a lot of fun; we have another on the 19th of November. In two months it’ll be a year that I’ve been sober. I’m pretty proud of myself for that. I’m sure a million other things have happened since I’ve been gone, and I know tons has been going on in your lives too! I’d love to hear all about it. I can’t promise I’m back for sure now, but I felt like doing a bit of blogging today and we’ll see where it leads us.

Have a fantastic week you wonderful WordPress friends. ❤

Band Photo Weekend~Halloween Edition!

Band Photo Weekend~Halloween Edition!

Yesterday was Halloween, and it was a great day! The sky was overcast and had rained a little earlier in the day, but the gloom just accented the spookiness. We went into town to get makeup for Lucas and Randy’s costumes, then out for lunch, and then back home to start getting dressed! We were going to carve pumpkins yesterday, but since it was so gloomy and wet out, we decided to push it back to today. Last night I drank way too much, and have been hung over all day today, so we’re pushing pumpkin carving back even further. That works out fine though, because I want to get charcoal to grill the seeds before we do carve them, and this way they’ll get their own special post. 😉

Once we were ready to go, we went over to the band room to start our stream! Thank you so much to Collette B for coming to watch us play!! The support was awesome, please go give her blog some love too! 🙂 We had a ton of fun streaming! All of us being dressed up was exciting, and no one said anything bad nor rude to us at all. We had almost 50 people in there at one point I believe, which is crazy. I made some mistakes, we all did, but the atmosphere was so great none of us really even cared, we were just having a blast! Afterward we went to a local bar for a couple drinks, and to show off our costumes a little more. 🙂

Lucas dressed up as The Crow, which is a fantastic movie if you’ve never seen it! He was going to be the Joker for a long time, and then when he got up yesterday he was like, “I think I’m going to dress up as The Crow instead!” Haha. He did a FANTASTIC job on his costume and makeup! He just ripped up a long-sleeved shirt he had, wrapped electrical tape around his waist and wrists/arms, and then we got makeup from Hobby Lobby for his face. Voila! Here’s a photo of what The Crow looks like for those who don’t know, so you can see how closely he matched!

Randy dressed up as Jason; he bought a mask a few weeks ago, and had overalls and a black shirt already. We just got some fake blood and tattoos from Walmart, and voila! He was ready to go.

I dressed up as someone from the 80’s! I didn’t have to get anything; I actually have enough clothes to look like I stepped out of the 80’s. 🙂 I didn’t have leg warmers, but I thought I was pretty clever. I cut the toes off of some fuzzy socks I have (since I have a million pairs) and turned them into leg warmers! I don’t think anyone could even tell they weren’t leg warmers!

My makeup took me FOREVER to put on, but it was so much fun! I loved taking the time to apply it, and making it look crazy. Lucas said it really made my eyes pop too; so I might be bringing the 80’s look back. (Seriously. I might keep doing that as my gimmick on our streams) I backcombed my hair, which I have never done and was worried I wouldn’t be able to do a good job. I had a backup plan of just doing a side pony tail if that were the case, but surprisingly I’m a backcombing prodigy! It turned out great, and what’s even better, I was able to get it back out pretty easily too!

I hope everyone had a great, safe Halloween! Enjoy pictures of Lunar Tides on Halloween! 😀

Life is Good

Life is Good

Tomorrow is Halloween! That should be exciting enough. However, I don’t fully know what my costume is going to be (although I’m leaning toward something 80’s at this particular moment since it seems easiest to do), and it’s supposed to rain all day!! Ahh! We’ll figure out how to make it work anyway.

I had a bit of an ‘aha!’-esque moment today. I was outside in the drizzle walking the dogs with my hood up, and realized I was A) outside (even though it was chilly and drizzling) B) walking a bunch of awesome dogs C) wearing jeans D) wearing a sweatshirt/jacket thing that I normally lounge around the cabin in, and E) I’m getting paid for this!! This is my job. How exciting is that?!

It may not be the most glamorous job in the world, but I’ve come to realize I absolutely love it. And that’s pretty exciting. I haven’t enjoyed really any of the jobs I’ve had for the past few years, so I’m really glad I’ve found one that fits me. I hope everyone else is having as good a day as I have, even if it is getting cold and raining all day and will be tomorrow too! Happy early Halloween! 🙂

Only Two More Days!!

Only Two More Days!!

Halloween is almost here!! 😀 Can you tell I’m excited? I know Halloween isn’t for everyone, but for me it is my second favorite holiday! The first is May Day, because whose favorite holiday is May Day? No one’s, so I’ve always felt bad for it and made it my favorite.

My dad got me a GIGANTIC pumpkin about a month ago, but I haven’t carved it yet because I’ve been waiting until closer to Halloween so it’ll look fresh on the actual day. Of course, I still have yet to carve it! We got Lucas a pumpkin to carve the other day, but since I work this whole week we’re going to just wait and do pumpkin carving on Halloween day.

After that, we’ll have tons of seeds to cook up! Last year I cooked them in a pan with oil, and they turned out delicious, but our cabin smelled for a week since we don’t really have a ventilation system set up. This year I’m going to try baking them in our make-shift oven made out of a giant crock pot, plus I’m going to see if Lucas will grill some. I thought it sounded fun to try grilling them, and I’ll bet they’ll be delicious! I’ll make a post of cooking them, of course!

We’re going to try to go to a haunted house on Saturday, so that should be scary and lots of fun! Afterward we’re going to dress up and do a fun Halloween Twitch stream. I was wanting to dress up as Rocky, but didn’t have the funds and time to go around shopping for the right clothes, so next year it’ll be Rocky!

Yeeeaaahhh!!
Yeeeaaahhh!!

This year I think I’m just going to have Lucas do my makeup in a scary Halloween-y way and find some clothes I don’t normally wear. Of course I’ll make a post-Halloween post! 🙂

For the meantime, I’ll share some pictures of Halloweens years ago with my family. I was trying to find the ones of me and my brother having pumpkin-gut fights, but for some reason I cannot find them to save my life! I’m really upset about it, but I’ll keep looking and if I come up with them I’ll make another post with those. 🙂

The Countdown Begins!

The Countdown Begins!

Happy October to everyone! That may not be a thing, but still. I love October. Autumn is my favorite season, and October perfectly encompasses the feel! It’s the perfect weather for jeans and a t-shirt, then just add a sweatshirt for the evening! Comfy clothes, which is wonderful.

Plus, now in only 30 days, we have Halloween!! Who doesn’t love Halloween? (Don’t answer that-I can love it enough for all of us) 🙂 It’s so much fun getting dressed up in costumes and wearing someone else for a night! That was creepily worded on purpose; Halloween is supposed to be creepy. 😉

Let’s not forget all the fun events leading up to Halloween, or just the fun Autumn things to do! The leaves are beginning to fall and that means raking them and jumping into the piles! Plus the smell of burning leaves, yum. I personally love that smell. There are haunted houses to go to and get spooked, scary movies to watch all month, and bonfires to have! We didn’t do a lot of fires this summer, so I’m really hoping we’ll be able to do a lot this month. The weather’s cooler which will make them more enjoyable anyway! Plus since we live out in the wilderness surrounded by trees and wildlife; it will up the creepy factor and get us in the Halloween/October spirit!

Apple cider! Another thing that is way more enjoyable during Fall. I don’t know how that works, but it most definitely tastes better somehow. Carving pumpkins?! That is not just for kids! I have been carving pumpkins since I was little, and I still find it as one of my favorite activities. I finally talked Lucas into doing it with me last year, and he had as much fun as I did! Probably more since he’s more artistic than I am. 🙂 After carving, you can cook all the pumpkin seeds! What’s not to love?

This month I’m going to make more posts about fall and the activities therein. I’ll also try to find some old pictures of my brother and I having pumpkin-gut fights. (I’ll fill you in more on another post!) What’s your favorite fall activity, or October activity?
