This has been a crazy weekend for me! I was originally scheduled off, but then my “team leader” was ill so I covered her shifts. Early morning for me Saturday, and then we went to a larger town about an hour away to get drum heads for Lucas’s……NEW DRUM SET!!
Isn’t it beautiful? It’s a Yamaha Stage Custom, and had one previous owner who hardly played it and when they did it was only in a home setting. That means it was never toted off to gigs and is in pristine condition. He is super excited about it, and it sounds wonderful compared to what he’d been using before! That’s going to help our sound a ton, and now we don’t have to worry about getting a new drum set any time soon!
We had rehearsal Saturday night, and tonight we worked on our newer songs and tried to really structure our newest one. I worked a split shift-early this morning and then again this evening. I have to go in tomorrow morning too, so unfortunately I’ll have to be going to bed soon. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, and I’ll be on here more tomorrow and this week hopefully! π
Beautiful drums.I love the sight of musical instruments – and your photographs look great. I once had an opportunity to paint drums (to accompany Peter Criss of the Kiss.) I don’t think you’d have seen the image. It’d be bad manner to paste it here but it’s on my blog. (Just search for Peter Criss.)

Lydia, forgive me for not snooping through all of your posts to find the answer but what type of music does your band play? That drum set looks amazing!

Thank you! That’s not a problem, I’m not even sure myself where I would have posted it! We play alternative rock I would say; we’ve had people say it reminds them of 90’s rock but I don’t know exactly what category it would be! If you have time you can go to our youtube page, we have a few of our songs posted up there. The link is http://www.youtube.com/lunartidesmusic π

I haven’t seen a band in so long so thank you so much for the link! Super fun! Who writes the songs? (Sorry for all of the questions)

Please don’t apologize!! I’m happy you’re interested in our music and are checking it out! π Thank you! We all work on it together; I’m the bass player of course, Lucas (my boyfriend) is the drummer, and his dad Randy is the guitarist. I’ve written the bass part to some of them, and they write their own parts to accompany it. Lucas just started playing drums last year, he’s played guitar most of his life though so he’s come up with a lot of the riffs and then put drums to them. Randy wrote the lyrics to I’m Not the Only One, Lucas has written most of the other ones with a little help from me on some, and then I wrote the lyrics and bass part for Cheesy Love Song. So it’s really a collaboration from all of us for the most part; sometimes they’ll show me what notes to play and I’ll put my own rhythm to it that accents what else is being played.

I really enjoy creative outlets. Music fascinates me, the collaborating – how several people can get together to blend their knowledge and come out with a song? It’s not something I have ever been a part of and the end result is absolutely amazing. βΊ Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed listening to you jam βΊπβΊπ

I completely agree; I think sometimes it’s hard for everyone’s opinion to be used to make them happy in bands. I think we work well since Lucas and Randy are related and then Lucas and I are together, so if we have any differences of opinion we’re just stuck with it and each other until we can figure it out! π Thank you for taking the time to listen and learn more about our band!! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I really appreciate it, it means a lot. π

Who doesn’t love new drums!? And these are super fine. I’m thinking of grabbing my tambourine and joining your band. But……..you need to get yourself some sleep or you’ll be a guitar playing zombie by next band photo! Sleep tight, Lydia.

We could definitely use a tambourine player!! π Yes, I don’t want to be a guitar playing zombie, I think bed for me would be best. Thank you, you sleep tight as well once you get there! π
