Daily Post Prompt: Observe

This is the top secret, stealth mode activated, intriguing, mysterious, Special Agent Nelson. And for the next few days, you get the privilege of caring for him! His next mission is in the vicinity, and therefore I’ve decided to let him stay for a few days while he accomplishes what is needed.

While he’s here, he’ll need lots of room to work. Please let him come out from time to time to get comfortable or snoop around while looking for clues. He likes to work alone, so if anyone else is out, they may want to go to their room while he prowls. Exercising his mind and body are both great ways to keep him working toward his goal. I’ve included a laser pointer, feather toy, and catnip should you need help in entertaining him.

With all this hard work, he’s going to be hungry! I let him eat some wet food (¼ of a can breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as well as having his dry food out all day. Now he has this problem of sometimes overeating, or else his stomach just gets upset from all the excitement and he pukes. Please don’t fret, this is normal and doesn’t need the doctor, just to be cleaned up! (apologies ahead of time if this should happen!)

His hard work with the agency needs him focused and ready no matter what nor when. Because of this, he has a special medication he takes at night. If stuck in a pill pocket or treat, he should eat it right down! After ensuring he’s eaten the pill, please give him 5ish treats that are provided. He’ll be extremely thankful!

Throughout his endeavors, he may need to send me some intel. This can easily be done by sending me pictures of him throughout his stay. There is no such thing as too many pictures!! While it may seem like he’s just sleeping, or hiding from the camera (which he will do) and you aren’t sure if you should take and send a picture, do it! You may not see anything, but I bet I’ll find the hidden message. He’s the special agent, but sometimes I give a consult.

Thank you for taking care of my boy while I’m gone, I greatly appreciate it! He may not be cuddly nor want touched, but he’ll love to play and eat and be out for a bit each day! If he acts up, I’m sure his mission is just getting a little out of hand, don’t take it personally!

Thanks again,

This week I decided to write out the instructions I’m leaving for my cat while he stays in boarding over the weekend. I’ll be going up to Iowa, and I want him to be able to get a break from his brothers! I know it’s not quite a story, but I wanted to leave the instructions in a fun way and thought this might do the trick!

Please check out S.R. Anand (With whom I’m doing these posts with!)’s blog, Yonder Worlds!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

From Dumpsters to Dining Rooms

Daily Post Prompt: Cur

The sun was shining when she woke from a deep sleep that took a few moments to shake from her eyes. She smiled when she realized she could actually see outside, and it wasn’t overcast nor foggy like it’d been the past week. Although she’d woken up slightly later than normal, she took her time going through her routine of getting ready. The sunlight coming in through the windows was too nice to rush through.

As she drove to work she marveled at how the trees were coming into bloom and the grass was growing greener each day. She’d missed the sun the past week, but the rains had really given way to some beautiful plant life. She clocked in on the dot, even after having taken her time in the morning. ‘It must be a sign it’s going to be a good day’, she thought to herself.

“Hey Laurel! Did you hear Robbie moaning about that cur out back last night?” Deborah called to her as she started setting things up for the mid-morning rush of sandwich-buyers.

“No, I didn’t. Was it still out there this morning?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.

“I haven’t seen it, but I’ll bet it’s there somewhere since he threw trash out when he was cursing about it.”

Laurel thought about the poor dog and what a rough life it must have to be hanging out back of a sandwich shop looking for scraps. She decided when she went to lunch she’d take it out back and see if she couldn’t coax the dog out of hiding.

Sure enough, when she went out a few hours later to enjoy the sun and eat her own sandwich, a scruffy-looking dog appeared seemingly out of nowhere. “Hey boy, want something to eat?” she asked gently, tugging a piece of her sandwich off as an offering. “That’s a good boy,” she whispered as he came right up to her outstretched hand and gently lifted the bread off. Laurel marveled at how well behaved this dog was for a supposed stray mutt. She quietly finished what she wanted and gave the rest to the dog. “Okay, if you’re still out here when I get off, how about we take you home and get you cleaned up?”

She gave him a quick pat on the head and walked back inside. Laurel didn’t know what she’d do with a dog if he was out there when she got off work. She decided on giving him a nice bath first, and then making some posters. Surely someone out there was missing this kind and handsome dog!

When she got off later that evening he was still there, and only too happy to follow her home. She did give him a bath, and he let her soap and rinse him until he was almost unrecognizable. The next day she made posters at the library, and hung them up around her block and the sandwich shop where he was found.

When no one had called about him in almost a month, Laurel decided Jack was hers to keep. She’d grown too attached to give him up now, and vice versa. What had once been a mangy cur was now a well-mannered and well-kept companion for Laurel, and neither could be happier.

One Post at a Time

One Post at a Time

It’s been a long time once again since I’ve posted! One of my best friends and I are going to start writing at least one story each week! Please go follow S.R.A.’s blog over at Yonder Worlds. You’ll find yourself entranced with the worlds she visits and the characters that come out of her mind. For now, we’ll be posting off the Daily Post’s Prompt of the Day. I hope this post finds you doing well my WordPress friends.

I’m sitting in a cabin in the Midwest. I’m staring at my laptop, wanting so badly to have a wonderful story jump into my head. Instead, I’m watching House in hopes that I’ll be inspired by something and not just sucked into the episode without writing anything down. Yet I’m here getting sucked into watching House and only writing down a few words or sentence at a time.

Maybe in a parallel universe I’m writing a follow-up novel to the previous two that people were clamoring to read. Or maybe I have my own groom shop and am finishing up the last dog of the day. Or perhaps it’s a parallel where I don’t even exist.

No matter, I am here in the now and my mind is entirely blank give for these ramblings I’m stringing together. I can’t say for sure why I haven’t written in so long. Perhaps life has just been busy, or I’ve just been scared to see what will come out, or what won’t for that matter.

There are definitely stories up there brewing, and tales I’ve started that haven’t been finished quite yet. They will come out, it may just take a bit of coaxing.

I appreciate you reading my ramblings, and I hope you will stay tuned for next week’s post. I’ll be thinking in the interim of story ideas and characters to hopefully make it a bit more exciting! Perhaps throughout the week I’ll write more of what’s been going on in my life as well.

Don’t forget to check out Yonder Worlds, and have a wonderful week and weekend friends. 🙂
