Lunar Tides EP Now Available!

 

Hello, everyone!! For anyone who doesn’t know, I am in a band called Lunar Tides. I play the bass guitar, my fiance Lucas plays the drums and does vocals, and Randy (his dad) plays the guitar and also does vocals. We started our band project a little over two years ago now. I had never played the bass, Lucas had never played drums, and Randy mostly only played the bass. So the instruments were new for all of us!

Two years later we’ve all gotten much better, although there’s still a lot to learn! Lucas is now learning how to mix the music and did a fabulous job on our first EP! We have five songs, and they are now available to download at Bandcamp. You can buy just a track, or the whole EP for $5. Let me know which song is your favorite!

We worked really hard on these songs, especially Lucas, and I really hope you all enjoy them as much as we enjoyed writing and playing them! Tonight we have our EP release stream on Twitch, which will begin around 6pm CST (USA). If you’re able to make it we would love to see you there!! Have a great weekend!

Band Photo Weekend!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a band photo weekend, and while I’m a day late on it, I figure that’ll be all right! 😉 We did a special Christmas stream this weekend, last weekend, and will still have our lights up for next weekend as well! We dressed up last weekend, but decided just to have the lights up for this weekend. Perhaps we’ll try to have fancy outfits for the New Year next weekend! We’ll see. 🙂

There’s how our lights were set up; I took a few other pictures, but apparently they didn’t really turn out very well. It was a lot of fun dressing up to stream, and Lucas even made us all Christmas shirts to wear! Now, they do have swear words on them, and I am actually working on a post about swear words, but we did it all in fun, not to offend anyone!

This weekend was a great stream for us; we actually had more new followers than any other night! We had about thirty people start to follow us. We’re working on a few new songs, and I really like the direction we’re going with them! It’s exciting to be working toward recording an album, and then seeing the direction our new songs are taking.

Next weekend I’ll go back to posting about our equipment; we recently had someone buy us a microphone that we were needing to get in order to record our album, which was super amazing of them!! That’ll be the next item I’ll post about, so keep an eye out for it! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their week! 🙂

Band Photo Weekend ~ Equipment Edition

I’ve already done a few posts about my bass, although I’m sure I’ll add it again in the equipment chronicles. 😉 However, today we’re going to be looking at Randy’s guitar!! A very important instrument of course, we couldn’t have the band without it!

There it is!

It’s a 2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus, and it’s pretty gorgeous! Now you can find them anywhere from about $2,000 to $3,000. I think he paid roughly $2,200 for it when he got it in the spring of 2006.

The guitar’s been through a lot with him, and is still going strong! He hasn’t had to do anything to it other than getting new strings, of course! (hmm, I’ll have to do a post about the strings!) Eventually he’s wanting to get a secondary guitar, A of all because it’s fun, but B of all it’s good to have a backup, especially when playing gigs. I’ll get to the guitar he’d like to get in the future in a different post. 🙂

Twitch Show!

It’s that time of the week once again! We’ll be going live on Twitch in about half an hour. It should be an interesting stream tonight; I don’t work this weekend so I won’t be tired and wanting to hurry the stream along, but Lucas and I stayed up until like eight this morning drinking and listening to music, so we’re both a little hung over. haha! Still, we’ll have fun I’m sure. Come check it out, or you can always go to our past broadcasts whenever you get time! 🙂 I hope everyone’s weekend is going wonderfully!!

Band Photo Weekend ~ Equipment Edition

I finally am posting about our band equipment! I’ll be starting off with two smaller pieces that we actually just picked up this weekend. They may not seem that noteworthy, but we definitely need and use even the smallest of pieces we have!

New guitar stands!

We’ll start off with our new guitar stands! The brand is Quiklok, and they’re really nice compared to what we had before. The back of them can adjust their height, and as you can see, my bass just barely fits in there!

With the weight of the guitar, the middle ‘leg’ thing comes down to hold the guitar firmly in place!

Next, I’ll also show you my new microphone stand! It’s an OnStage, and is pretty neat, I think. It’s a boom stand, which means that it can either be straight up and down, or it can lean forward toward me.

Since I don’t show you enough animal pictures already, here’s a little kitten that showed up outside the band room! She’s super sweet and adorable, and Lucas’s grandma decided to adopt her, so she’s safe and warm inside! 🙂

Who’sYourMomma.. that’s what she named her for now 😉

Band Photo Weekend ~ Happy Birthday, Randy

This was an exciting weekend for Lunar Tides, and it was Randy’s birthday today!! As I mentioned yesterday, we went shopping for some mics, a camera, and new shirts for all three of us! 🙂 Lucas and I also got our hair cut, which is always fun!

Thank you so very much to Paula from Never a Dull Bling for coming to our stream on Saturday!! 😀 I was so excited to see her come watch and support our music, as I’m morphing my blogging life and band life together! 😉 That was a blast. We had a few trolls toward the end of the night, but nothing a quick ‘ban’ couldn’t fix! Hah. We also had another surprise stream tonight, where we were just working on some new songs and running the camera scene switching! Lucas figured out how to set it up, so although we didn’t have it last night, we’ll definitely have it next weekend!

Without further ado, I’ll go ahead and share some pictures of our new ‘dos. 🙂

Since I had to share some photos of our haircuts, (which does have to do with Lunar Tides!) I’m going to start showing our equipment next weekend. I know I’ve been saying that for a couple weekends now, but I promise next weekend is the time!! Is there any piece of equipment you’d like me to write about first, or something you’ve seen in a video or picture that you’d like to know more about? Just let me know and I can start that series off with it!

Lunar Tides Twitch Show Tonight!

I’m mostly making this post to keep up with NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) to write a post every day. So far so good! That’s also why yesterday’s was so short; I was really tired (maybe a little hung over..) so it was short and sweet and a post!

Today we went shopping! We got three new microphones we’ll be needing for recording our music, plus I now have my own microphone! 🙂 haha. I’m a little nervous about it. I lucked out this weekend though; we don’t have a stand for it yet (unless they’ve rigged up something for me that I don’t yet know about) so I’ll be talking next weekend! Hooray!

We also picked up a little webcam from Best Buy so we’ll have a clearer picture for the stream, plus we can now do some scene-switching between the two. In the future we might get some more for even more angles of us, but two is good for right now! Lucas is over there getting it all set up right now.

Lucas and I did get our haircut! We both really like it, they did a great job. The top of Lucas’s hair was eight inches long!! They took five off; that was crazy, we knew it was long but didn’t realize it was that long! I’ll be posting pictures later tonight or else tomorrow. Also, all three of us got new gig t-shirts! We’ll be sporting them tonight, so feel free to come check us out! 😉 (Our music too; don’t forget the music!)
