Life Update

Last night Lucas had the fabulous idea of marathoning movies, and we decided on all the X-Men movies!! It was a blast; we watched all five of them in a row! We started around eight pm, and were finally done around six thirty am! We didn’t know if we’d make it through the final one, but we sure did! Surprisingly, neither one of us had any dreams about being an X-Man, but I think that may have had to do with the fact that we were exhausted! Perhaps tonight our brains will make up for it. πŸ˜‰

The vet clinic is going very well; I’m still getting enough hours. I would like to have even more, but for now it’ll work! I should be getting my ‘review’ soon. For the first 90 days we’re on probation, and then we have an evaluation where it’s determined whether we’ll become full-fledged workers or not! I’m not sure why all that is; I mean we’re already working there right? Unless I get a raise, I don’t really see the point, but it’s exciting nonetheless. πŸ˜‰

I also got the days off I requested to go to Iowa and see our families!! I am super excited about that. We’ll be leaving on Thanksgiving day I think, and will hopefully make it up there to stand in line at Best Buy to get a deal on a TV! Then we’ll spend all weekend visiting family, and leave on Monday to come back home! Randy will take care of the boys (and Calypso!) while we’re gone so that’s good.

I’ve been on the 20mg of Celexa for two weeks now. I think it’s helping, but I can’t quite tell. I mean, for the depression it definitely is, and was with the 10mg as well! But I’m not for sure about the anxiety. It does seem to have lessened, but I don’t really go anywhere to really see if it has. Plus thinking about driving all the way to Iowa freaks me out. I’m not really sure why; I’ve never been afraid of road trips and have always loved driving. I can’t tell if it’s a control thing, since Lucas will be driving and not me, or if it is anxiety-driven. (No pun intended!) I think I might just make another appointment to see what the doctor thinks about everything, since he’s supposed to be the expert! Plus I’ve met my deductible on the insurance, so I don’t have to pay for the visit anyway! Might as well take advantage before the year’s over.

I also made an eye appointment; I had one schedule for Tuesday, but have to work at the time I had made it for like six months ago, so I changed it to December 3rd. I’m still on my dad’s insurance for a couple more years, and he’s changing it next year and it will no longer cover eye exams. This isn’t very good for me, since being a type 1 Diabetic I’m supposed to definitely be getting my eyes checked regularly, but I’m thinking we’ll be able to figure something out. He’s really great at helping me with all things medical!

The last eye appointment I had my eyes had been hemorrhaging, and one was in a moderate state while the other was mild. Not good at all!! At the time I was smoking (so gross, I know!) but my dad bought Lucas and me both e-cigarettes to use instead. (I told you-he looks out for us!) So we’ve been vaping, and hopefully that has helped with my eyes. I suppose I’ll find out in a few weeks!

That’s about all the new news I have for now, I think! I hope everyone’s having a fantastic week so far! I’m working this weekend, so it’ll be a long one for me, plus Twitch streaming on Saturday night! What are you looking forward to this weekend?

      1. No I understand. I never picked up cigs, but I obviously have a caffeine issue. I’m trying to cut back to just coffee (I have a soda problem) and while I know that those two are not entirely comparable, I remember how hard my dad tried to quit smoking and he didn’t like the person he became off nicotine. So any cut back is for the best, as far as health goes!

      2. That is true!! I wish I never had picked it up; I also have a caffeine issue too, (LOTS of coffee and diet soda :/ ) so there’s a bunch of things I need to cut out. And it is kind of the same thing (well, cigs are probably somewhat worse for your health); I think it’d be just as hard to give up caffeine as it is smoking though!

      3. No kidding; and of course why do we even gravitate toward them, especially when we’ve been told all our lives they’re bad for us? I guess I was a rebel. Stupid, but a rebel. πŸ˜› haha. Thank you, that is true, just taking it a day at a time!

    1. Yes, you should! It was a lot of fun. You also pick up on things you might have missed when you’re waiting so long in between to see the next film. Plus it’s really cool seeing how much the actors age throughout them. From the first to the last (that’s out right now anyway) I was like, Bobby has grown up so much!! Haha. If you get a chance to, I definitely recommend it! Thank you, you take care as well and have a fantastic weekend! πŸ™‚

      1. Haha, yes that’d probably be a bad idea. I don’t know how many hours there are either, but probably at the least nine; I think all of them are like three hours each!

  1. Okay, now I’m going to have to watch those movies! I love movie marathons! Popcorn, nachos, licorice, all things munchy and fattening!! I smoked for years… didn’t actually quit until 2012. Probably one of the reasons I run so slow, lol! You are doing so awesome!! Love the positive attitude!!

    1. Movie marathons are definitely the best! You definitely should watch them sometime, they’re great! The third one is the worst, but the fifth one negates it, so now it can just be a guilty pleasure action movie since it is still a good movie! (I think anyway!) Go you for quitting!! Ha, smoking definitely doesn’t help anything exercise-related! I used to get winded walking to the mailbox. :/ In my defense the mailbox was a little ways away. πŸ˜‰ haha. Vaping is a lot better, but I would like to be able to quit altogether! It’s an awful habit. I’m down to 2mg of nicotine in mine though; so hopefully soon I can just get down to 0 and then quit completely! Thank you, I’ve been working on being positive! πŸ™‚

      1. 2 mg is fantastic! It’s hard, I know, just keep trying. And if you slip, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just try again, and again and again. One day you’ll succeed if you really want to, but again, having diabetes already wreaks havoc with the circulation, as does smoking. You might just have to for good health. Anyway, hang in there! You’re doing great!! πŸ™‚

      2. Thank you!! I really appreciate the support; it is really hard to quit, especially when you don’t exactly want to, but you know it’d be Much better for your health! That’s good advice; I think I’ll make it my goal to quit by the end of next year! (Or sooner if I can!) πŸ™‚

      3. Truth be told, I didn’t want to quit either and I was pissed off and hated life for about the first 6 months. After about 8 months, I relapsed for a month or so, but that was when I changed my attitude and haven’t smoked since. It sucks, it really does. Just know I feel your pain. πŸ˜€

      4. I completely understand that! I start getting agitated when I’m running out of juice or don’t know when I’ll be able to get some more! It’ll be hard, but I think I can do it if I really try hard. I’m glad you told me about you quitting, and to not worry if I relapse. That’s inspiring to me, and it is nice to know you’ve been through it and understand how it is!! πŸ™‚

      5. Oh that’s good to know! I’ve bought the gum before, well cheaper versions of it while at a job where I didn’t get a smoke break, and they were helping a bit. But not quite enough; I’ll have to give both of those a try sometime too! Thanks. πŸ™‚
