Had a Problem – I Think I Fixed It

Had a Problem – I Think I Fixed It

I was going to make a post about how I really want to get my book written by the end of the year, but I don’t know exactly how to do it. I’ve been waiting for feedback from my mom and Lucas on some questions I gave them to answer. I asked Lucas some about my behavior when I get depressed and how he deals with it, and I asked my mom some questions about my behavior when I tried to commit suicide for the first time and was depressed. (My memory is terrible, plus it’s good to get some outside perspective!)

I’ve been using these as a crutch to not write, and I’ve been waiting for someone to tell me how to format my book. I was actually in the bathroom thinking about it, and realized even if someone gave me the answer, it wouldn’t be good enough. This is MY book, so whatever suggestion they had wouldn’t work, because it wouldn’t be the way I wanted it. Solution? Make coffee. Close Internet. WRITE!

And that’s what I did. I had some short answers written down, but I embellished them and kept writing for awhile. I now have 1,287 words for my book, and that’s barely covering a percentage of it. I think I’m going to take a break for right now, but I wanted to let you all know I think I’m finally on track to get it done!

I’m feeling much better about it, and I’m getting excited about it again because I think I know the way I want it to flow and be formatted. I wrote a beginning paragraph that I was going to post and see what you all thought, but I’m thinking I might change it. If I ever get something down I’ll let you read it though. šŸ™‚ Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop; I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

  1. Wish you all the best in achieving your target.
But, I myself am lingering my book since two years. I started and sketched an outline with 15,000 words. Then I left it. Recently, I determined it got much delayed and want to complete it as early as possible by weaving the story. But, I get stuck at each paragraph. So, I can put only 100 words a day and then leave it.

    1. I completely understand where you’re coming from! For me, it especially happens when I know I’m close to completing something but can’t quite get it right but want it to be perfect. I know you’ll finish it soon; keep working at it and you’ll get there. Any progress is good, even if it seems slow. Once it’s done it’ll have been worth it regardless of the time! šŸ™‚

    1. Most definitely; I’m always the one stopping myself from doing things I can! It’s good to realize that and get over myself though. šŸ˜‰ Thank you for stopping by and following my blog!

  2. Yay!! Congrats on putting a small dent in your book. That’s such a huge accomplishment. I also like how you were able to realize that you need to be the one to get it done, not your family. Good luck to you. You inspire me to begin mine as well. šŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words.:) It’s so easy to put it off and find reasons to not write, but once you do it is so worth it! Good luck on starting yours too, you can do it!! šŸ˜€

  3. I am also a great procrastinator. My excuse for not working on my book is the photos I need to take for it. Are you going to publish through Amazon’s create space?

    1. There is always an excuse to find! I’m not sure yet; I’ve been doing some research on the best sites to self-publish, but I don’t know what to use yet. Have you had experience with create space?

      1. I recently set up a create space account, and I’m at the very beginning phase of information-gathering on graphic novels before I even write the story. One blogger I know self-published on create space and she was happy with the finished product.

      2. That’s awesome, thank you for letting me know! I think I’ll do that and set up a KDP for an ebook too perhaps. I’m already intrigued for your story; I’ll be looking forward to seeing how it comes along and the finished product! šŸ™‚ Maybe we can help each other out through the self-publishing journey.

      3. Excelente idea! Absolutely, we can help each other out. And I agree, I’m looking into KDP as well. It’s all new to me, so I’m learning something new every day, but we can exchange information for sure. What’s your email amiga? Or email me? myspanglishfamilia at gmail dot com šŸ™‚

      4. Yeah, I just realized Create Space was for paperback copies, and I think it’ll link you to KDP for the ebooks. I had no idea! haha. I’m excited for the journey though, and I’m really excited we’ll be able to do it together! šŸ™‚ My email is lydia.rodriquez93 at outlook dot com and I’ll save yours too! šŸ™‚
